Itinerary

📅 Day 1: Arrival at Barsu (7,500 ft)

• Drive approx. 7–8 hrs from Dehradun via Uttarkashi, passing the scenic Bhagirathi River valley.
• Witness terraced fields, small Garhwali hamlets, and local temples along the route.
• Evening at leisure in Barsu village; overnight stay in homestay or guesthouse, experiencing local hospitality.

📅 Day 2: Barsu to Barnala Tal (9,000 ft)

• Trek 4 km / 4–5 hrs through lush oak, maple, and rhododendron forests.
• Observe the first glimpses of alpine flora and occasional Himalayan fauna such as barking deer or Himalayan thrush.
• Arrive at serene Barnala Tal, a high-altitude lake surrounded by forests and meadows.
• Camp nearby and enjoy peaceful reflections of surrounding peaks in the lake.

📅 Day 3: Barnala Tal to Dayara Bugyal (11,000 ft)

• Trek 5 km / 4–5 hrs; forest trail gradually opens to expansive alpine meadows.

📅 Day 5: Dayara Bugyal to Barsu via Barnala

• Trek 9–10 km / 6–7 hrs descending through Bugyal and forests of Barnala.
• Observe shepherds moving flocks, traditional stone huts, and seasonal grazing grounds.
• Evening return to Barsu village, enjoying local Garhwali meals and folk interactions.

📅 Day 6: Departure from Barsu

• Drive back to Dehradun (7–8 hrs), passing scenic Himalayan valleys.
• Trek concludes with memories of alpine meadows, snow-capped peaks, and local culture.

How to reach

✈️ Air: Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (approx. 220 km from Barsu).

🚆 Train: Nearest major railway station: Dehradun (approx. 200 km from Barsu).

🛣️ Road: Shared jeeps and buses run from Dehradun to Uttarkashi, from where taxis connect to Barsu (7–8 hrs).

🗺️ Travel Tip: Arrive in Dehradun a day early to catch early-morning transport. Mobile network is limited beyond Uttarkashi.
